Balver Zinn Acquires Global License for Nihon Superior Co. Ltd.’s SN100C Solder Paste and Wire
Published: 02.07.2008BALVE, GERMANY — The Balver Zinn Group, a leading provider of high-quality anodes with various alloys as well as soft solders and special wires, announces that it is positioning itself to develop the opportunities presented by the global license it has acquired for solder pastes and wire using the proven SN100C alloy developed by Nihon Superior Co. Ltd. The licenses will only sell SN100C bars and ingots in the territories allocated to them by Nihon Superior; DKL services the United Kingdom and Ireland while Balver Zinn covers areas from the Atlantic coast of Europe to India.
As a member of the Balver Zinn Group, the Cobar business unit’s technologies will combine with Balver Zinn’s experience to introduce a suite of advanced lead-free paste wire and flux products through its sales and distribution network. The Balver Zinn Group is presently undergoing an appraisal of its resources and planning to position its brands to the market. Existing Cobar products will not be affected; however, the Balver Zinn Group is expected to emerge as a premium global brand with well-supported and advanced products. Now, as always, the company will remain completely committed to quality and service.
Its partnership with Nihon Superior allows the company to offer the patented wave solder alloy, SN100C, to global territories. SN100C is a patented nickel stabilized tin/copper alloy that has had much success in Asia. It is based on the eutectic 99.3% tin 0.7% copper with a trace amount of nickel that produces a dramatic improvement in the alloy when used in a wave solder application. Developed specifically for the lead-free process of mass soldering, SN100C operates under process conditions similar to those of conventional lead containing alloys. With SN100C it is possible to achieve high productivity while still producing reliable joints cost-effectively.
