LRQA Gold Award for BALVER ZINN
Published: 10.03.2010On 3 March 2010 BALVER ZINN Josef Jost GmbH & Co. KG won the Gold Award as a result of more than 10 years of successful quality management. Iris Maczey, Lead Assessor of Lloyd’s Register Quality Assurance GmbH (LRQA), presented the award on the occasion of a surveillance visit. In more than 10 years BALVER ZINN’s quality management system of has led to instrumental improvements. For example, products and internal processes been standardized and can now be traced back. Processes have been optimised and rejects reduced. Fault-analysis methods such as FMEA helped get the whole production chain moving more efficiently. Johannes Thüsing, Quality Manager (QMB) stated, “Without the quality management we could not sell our products or services on special markets and market segments“. A key step has been the introduction of the Dutch service centre Breda into the system and the existing QM system was converted from ISO 9001 to ISO/TS 16949. The introduction of an environmental management system as per ISO 14001 is planned here and the German site Balve is to follow with the conversion to ISO/TS 16949. Within the framework of the quality management system, BALVER ZINN has switched to a paperless system integrating the complete 14001 documentation into ISO 9001. The quality management system has instrumentally strengthened BALVER ZINN’s international competitive position and is meeting their customers’ ever-increasing demands.
